Small Business Spotlight with Katey Plummer
One of the greatest privileges of running a small business is the opportunity to support other small businesses. From the time I began Hazen at the age of 9, I have encountered many people who have supported me in my work and the pursuit of my aspirations for this business. Those are the individuals who have forever influenced and shaped my life by instilling in me the courage to pursue my dreams, and oftentimes, opening the doors through which I could best pursue those dreams.
My hope for our Small Business Highlights is to open doors for other small business owners who are hustling daily to grow their businesses. I am confident that they believe their products bring life, creativity and joy to both themselves and their customers, and I hope we not only encourage them through this series but also nurture their success using the tools and opportunities we have graciously been given.
Humbly,
Taylor Turner
We are so excited for the next installment of our small business highlight! Starting Wednesday, February 24th, we will be including an original art piece from Katey Plummer in each online order!
A: My love for painting began as a child. I always loved creating whether it was in art class, at home, or with friends. Being creative brings me life! It allows me to express myself in a way nothing else does.Q: What materials do you use in your work? Paints, canvas, paper, etc?A: I typically focus on canvas paintings. I mainly work with acrylics and oil pastels. I dabble in some watercolors. They are fun to use and you never know how they are going to turn out.Q: From where do you draw your inspiration?A: Always my children. I have three babies 5,3, & 2. They are full of life and inspire me each day! That would explain my use of vibrant color in most every piece I create.Q: Playing with colors and textures excites us when designing jewelry. What excited you when painting?A: Figuring out new color combinations. I love to surprise myself with new combinations. I also love lots of texture in my paintings. I believe texture is a way to make a painting really come to life.image by @lindsaybuddinphotographyQ: Any business leaders or artists that inspire or influence you and your brand?A: So many! I have been inspired by so many mama friends who have created their own businesses. Hallie Lewis of Helen H Press is extremely creative and a dear friend. Rachel Nash who is a dear friend and extremely talented artist, and Diana Brosseau who is an extremely dear mama friend and talented artist.Q: What can we look forward to seeing from your brand in the near future?
