Q: When did you develop a love for painting?

As a little girl, I loved spending time in my “craft room” creating, painting, and making a mess with all my art supplies. Creating has always been a part of me and painting, specifically, my favorite outlet of expression. Fast forward to adult life: several years ago, my wonderful husband (Chris) encouraged me to turn my deep-seated passion for art + creating into a business. Thanks to his encouragement (and the support of so many others!), I have the honor of creating artwork for wonderful clients, and I love what I get to do.

Q: What materials do you use in your work? Paints, canvas, paper, etc?
I love working with a combination of mediums to build up layers in my art. While good ‘ole acrylic paint is my go-to and most used material, I really enjoy working with charcoal & oil stick to add a bit of contrast and additional depth to my work. I typically paint on stretched canvas for larger paintings & mixed media paper for smaller, framed pieces.

Q: From where do you draw your inspiration?
I’m constantly inspired by nature’s patterns and rhythms, and I bottle up glimpses of those expressions by spending time outside and traveling. Hiking through a lush forest, playing with my daughter in our backyard, visiting a new city — each serve as avenues of inspiration and constantly reinspire my work.

Q: Playing with colors and textures excites us when designing jewelry. What excites you when painting?
I love watching the evolution of a painting take place. From my initial stroke of paint on canvas, to the "messy middle" phase, lots of back & forth / wrestling with the painting, to eventually a completed, lively painting that tells a story.... it's an exciting, stretching, & refreshing process!

Q: Any business leaders or artists that inspire or influence you and your brand?
I’ve always been a big fan of the calming landscapes by Claude Monet & the movement in paintings by Willem de Kooning. As for more modern artists, I’ve learned so much from Emily Jeffords as both an artist and business mentor. I’m thankful for the community of artists I’ve met over the past few years (both online and in Atlanta) & am energized by their passion to grow & share beauty with the world.

Q: What can we look forward to seeing from your brand in the near future?Lately, I’ve been focused on commission paintings for clients around the country! I’m also preparing to launch collections of artwork with a few of my gallery partnerships — new work coming later this summer & fall!
