Giving back has always been at the core of the Hazen brand. We believe in supporting the amazing work that nonprofits do on both the local and national levels. We are humbled by the opportunity to partner with some of our favorite Hazen Influencers to give back to amazing philanthropies. Q: Can you share the organization’s mission?
The Lupus Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy. We are focused on achieving the following disease-specific outcomes: Reduce time to diagnosis, Ensure people with lupus have an arsenal of safe and effective treatments and Expand direct services and increase access to treatment.
Q: What has drawn you to this organization?
My mother was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 13 years old. She is affected by both the internal and skin types of Lupus. She has fought this disease for over 20 years, been hospitalized multiple times, and has continued to persevere and push through with as normal as a life as possible. I'm drawn to this organization because I want to help not only my mom, and the research being done to end the disease, but also help people to live with it.
Q: How have you seen this organization make an impact?
The organization has stimulated advances in research of the disease as well as provides support for people, like my mother, who are living with the disease.
Q: In what ways can others contribute to the mission?
They can donate to the organization, volunteer, raise awareness and sign up and participate in a Walk to End Lupus near them.
Q: What three Hazen pieces have you been eyeing to help contribute to this donation?
The color for Lupus is purple, so I've had my eye on all of the purple or Lilac pieces. The Molly Bracelet, Lavender, the Poppy Earring, Lavender, and the Bamboo Bangle, Rose Quartz have all caught my eye!
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A lot of people don't know what Lupus is, or aren't familiar with it. Lupus is a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that your immune system — the body system that usually fights infections — attacks healthy tissue instead.
