Hazen Gives Back: Alicia Wood + Brother Bill's Helping Hand

Giving back has always been at the core of the Hazen brand. We believe in supporting the amazing work that nonprofits do on both the local and national levels. We are humbled by the opportunity to partner with some of our favorite Hazen Influencers to give back to amazing philanthropies in the coming weeks, starting with Alicia Wood and benefiting Brother Bill's Helping Hand.

On Monday, June 28th we will be donating 20% of online orders that place "BBHH" in the notes section at checkout to Brother Bill's Helping Hand.

Q: Can you share the organization’s mission?

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand has been serving the West Dallas community for more than 75 years. Its core programs include a grocery store, where neighbors have access to healthy food; access to quality healthcare for the uninsured; and education programs that include English classes, computer courses and fitness programs.

West Dallas is one of the poorest parts of the city of Dallas. In fact, 50% of students live below the poverty line and approximately 80% of all students are economically disadvantaged. The team and volunteers at Brother Bill’s Helping Hand are focused on engaging, supporting and empowering its neighbors so that they can rise up out of poverty.

Q: What has drawn you to this organization?
Our church, Park Cities Baptist is involved with BBHH and how I first came to know about them.  BBHH is the epitome of loving others as we are called to do.
Q: How have you seen this organization make an impact?

In 2020, BBHH served 9,400 people, distributed 1,600,000 pounds of groceries, provided 4,600 health/mental health clinic visits, and more.  They profoundly impact the Oak Cliff and West Dalas community as well as the other 65 different zip codes they serve.

Q: In what ways can others contribute to the mission?

There are many ways for almost all ages to serve at BBHH.  From stocking grocery store shelves, helping with summer camps and back to school drives, and of course, financial support, there are opportunities for the whole family.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?

It is important to me to give back to our community and I am honored to partner with Hazen to share the good work that Brother Bill's Helping Hand is doing in Dallas and help support their efforts to love their neighbors well.
